My Summer Beauty Favourites

For those of you living in the U.K I hope you’ve all been enjoying the British Sunshine, the idea for this post came when I was driving home from work in the London heat with my air-con on full blast to prevent my make up from melting off my face! If your reading this post from outside the U.K I must let you know that we do chat about the weather a lot, I do enjoy sunny days but you may often hear me complaining about how hot it is. Most homes in the U.K are not built for extreme heat! Ok enough of the chit chatter here are my favourite summer beauty products. I have selected these products as they are my go to make up items that work with my oily combination dark skin.

Lets start off with the base, I tend to use my Sukin facial moisturiser as my primer as it’s light and works with my sometimes sensitive skin! This leaves a workable amount of moisture on my face without extra grease! I follow this with the Bobbi Brown Corrector in shade Very Bisque, I use this to cover pigmentation around my eye area. On top I use my Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation in shade 13. It gives my skin a dewy satin finish which I love! You only need two to three small pumps of this on your foundation brush for a light summer layer. Too much and it starts to look cakey. No one wants cakey make up on a summers day, well I hope not.

Depending on how much sleep I’ve had I add the Bobbi Brown creamy concealer in shade Almond to highlight my under eyer area  and get rid of my tired eyes. Before applying my eye make up I use the Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless finish skin perfecting micro-powder in shade 3 Dark.  This powder works like a dream! Not only does it set your foundation it does this with a light coating and gives a brightening effect. The powder also controls my oily t-zone.

For eyes I am currently loving the hyped up make up palette by Urban Decay Naked Heat which sold out twice last year, luckily enough I got my palette from Nordstrom in Washington DC last Christmas. I love wearing the colour shade ‘He Devil’ which is a nice warm brown with a matte finish. This palette works wonders on my dark skin. Other shades which I usually wear from the palette are: Lumbre, Cayenne, Dirty Talk, Scorched and sometimes En Funego. Continuing with the eye area and Urban Decay I like to use their brow box in shade brunettebetty (hurry it’s on sale) for my eyebrow which comes with two brow powders, one light and one dark, a clear brow wax, an emergency twezer, an applicator brush and an eye brow brush/wand. Ive had this set for almost a year now which shows how long lasting the product really and truly is. I love wearing this brow powder on hot days and it’s heat proof, well not going to melt off your face. For mascara I like to use the Benefit they’re Real mascara. It lengthens my naturally curled eyelashes, one thing I will point out is that the wand does get clumpy after a few uses which can become a little annoying, I always seem to come back to this mascara so they must be doing something right I guess.

For glowing summer cheeks I have been enjoying the Pot Rough lips and cheeks powder pink in shade 6 by Bobbi brown.

For lips I have been using the Urban Decay Mega Matte Vice lipstick in shade hex. This lipstick is long lasting and works well with my complexion.

To complete the look I use the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary mist which hydrates my skin, this product is very pricey for a mist, luckily I received it in my LookFantastic advent calendar from last Christmas. I’m not sure if this is a setting spray but it does leave my face feeling fresh and ready for a summers day.

Whose noticed the replica perfume from Zara which looks very similar to the Armani Prive? Well this is a gorgeous scenting EDT and costs just £9.99 on sale!!!! The Accord No3 has woody notes of violet leaves, apple and cedar, the fragrance is subtly light and lasts for a few hours so you will need to keep this in your hand bag for some re-application especially on a scorcher of a day.

To avoid your make up from melting off your face I highly recommend using more tools, keep these items in your handbag: foundation brush, cotton buds to mop off smudge and blotting paper! If you have combination oily face then try out blotting paper for oily skin.
