Nothing beats receiving a new DIY kit especially one that has ‘all the happiness in a kit’. Over the festive period I thoroughly enjoyed knitting the soft and luxurious Marcy scarf using the Highland Peruvian wool.
This particular scarf uses three basic stitches and is a fab way to develop your knitting skills. As an avid lover for all things yarn and ethical packaging I was excited to receive my packaging from We are Knitters…*this is not a sponsored post, I just love the quality of the yarn & their DIY kits*.
The DIY kits from We are Knitters (WAK), come in four different levels based on your knitting skills from beginner, easy, intermediate and advance. The Marcy scarf is classified as easy and is just perfect for lazy evenings knitting in front of the telly.
Before beginning any knitting project or using a knitting pattern I make sure that I am familiar with the techniques required for the knitted project and familiarise myself with the pattern. Creating a mini swatch of the pattern helps. You may be eager to start right away but trust me, spending time familiarising yourself with the pattern and testing out the pattern will save you from unravelling all your knitted stitches.
The kit contained two skeins of 200g Highland Peruvian wool, 15mm wooden knitting needles, the knitting pattern, knitters sewing needle and an embroidery label.
The Marcy scarf uses the garter and stockinette stitch, it simply alternates between both stitches and includes the basic knit and purl stitch. I love the textured look of the stitches and the beautiful design.
The finished Marcy scarf is sooooo soft and cosy. I am delighted with how it turned out. I can’t wait to try out my next DIY kit, maybe I’ll wait it out until the next sale.
